Over the last few months I’ve had quite a few conversations with leaders from Canadian associations about the importance of member engagement. Engagement has become a buzz word, but in my opinion that does not make it any less relevant or important.
For a variety of reasons, associations are dealing with technological and demographic changes that are making it increasingly difficult for them to make a meaningful connection with their members.
Next week, on May 18 in Ottawa, I will be taking part in a breakfast panel discussion hosted by Welch LLP on the topic of maximizing member engagement. I will be joined by my colleagues from Stratford Managers and Akendi as we talk about strategies that association leaders can implement to engage their members more effectively.
Each of the panelists will bring a slightly different perspective to the topic, including corporate strategy (Stratford), experience design (Akendi) and technology implementation (NetFore). But together we’ll cover a number of important topics related to engagement. Here are a some of the key things we’re planning to discuss:
- The building blocks of engaging the connected member and the leadership capabilities required to succeed in the digital economy
- An approach to leveraging member and user experiences to understand and focus digital and physical strategies and create remarkable experiences
- The importance of adopting the right tools and processes to unlock from the collected information that organizations can now attain, and how to translate that into a better relationship with your members
